Svetlana Sech

“THE HUMAN VOICE IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL INSTRUMENT OF ALL, BUT IT IS THE MOST DIFFICULT TO PLAY.” - RICHARD STRAUSS

“I believe that one of the greatest joys in life is to hear beautiful singing. My specialty is the Bel Canto Technique – a technique that offers versatility in voice and allows you to sound like an opera singer for one minute, and a rock or pop singer the next minute.

Once you demystify the bel canto technique, you can take the singing world by storm and I am here to guide you through this adventure. My goal is to provide you with a fun, inspirational environment that will expand your singing skills and make your voice lessons the highlight of your day.”

Svetlana Sech is a professionally trained opera singer and teacher. The beauty of voice and technical accomplishments are the hallmarks of her performances on stage. She has acquired the bel canto technique of singing by working with world-renowned singers, voice teachers, and coaches.

After receiving her Bachelor of Music at the State Music Academy in L'viv (1993, Ukraine), she continued her training at the Merola Opera Program in San Francisco (1994) and with Professor Mary Morrison and Stuart Hamilton in Toronto (1995-1999).

Svetlana is a winner of the Irving Guttman Foundation Award and received grants from the Gropper Memorial Fund, and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.

Over the years, Svetlana sang with many opera companies and symphonies in Canada, the US, and Ukraine. She has also performed as a solo guest with many choirs including Richard Eaton Singers, Vancouver Bach Choir, and Pro Coro.

In addition, Svetlana is an excellent educator. She received her Bachelor of Education at Concordia University (2003). By combining her extensive singing knowledge, skills and experience in both singing and teaching, Svetlana is able to create an effective learning environment for her students. She has been teaching at the Conservatory of Music MacEwan University since 2002.
